Robins & Morton Named One Of America’s 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces By Dave Thomas Foundation For Adoption
Birmingham, Ala. (PRWEB) October 14, 2016 -- Today Robins & Morton announced that it has been recognized for its employee adoption benefits by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Robins & Morton was ranked #26 in the top 100, and #1 in the architecture, engineering and construction industry, on the organization’s 2016 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List.
Robins & Morton offers its employees eight weeks of paid leave and $10,000 of financial assistance and reimbursement. This is the fifth consecutive year that the company has made the list.
“Being part of human resources, I have had the privilege of assisting families with their adoption journey and making them aware of the benefits that Robins & Morton provides” said Robins & Morton Director of Human Resources, Aimee Comer said. “Now, having gone through the adoption process myself, I appreciate these benefits on a whole new level. Our family had to start the process over in two countries due to some unexpected hurdles before Lucy joined our family. The support of our Robins & Morton family was huge during the uncertain times and then for our joyful homecoming from China in 2015.”
The announcement of the 2016 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list comes the month preceding National Adoption Month, a collective campaign to raise awareness of the children in foster care waiting to get adopted.
Since 2007, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has compiled an annual list of the 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces to honor employers who offer the best adoption benefits in the U.S. The rankings, compiled from an annual survey of U.S. employers, are determined by an analysis of each company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum financial reimbursement and the amount of paid leave provided for employees who adopt. New to this year’s campaign is the emerging leaders category so the Foundation can recognize even more adoption-friendly workplaces.
“Employers who offer adoption benefits understand that the initial needs of adoptive families are no different than families formed biologically – it helps ensure all families are treated equally by companies,” Rita Soronen, President and CEO of the Foundation, said. “We are elated to see even more companies in the last year implement adoption-friendly and foster care-friendly benefits.”
The ninth annual Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list also helps increase foster care adoption awareness while celebrating businesses that support adoptive families. There are more than 100,000 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted. Every year, more than 20,000 children in foster care turn 18 and age out of the system without families.
