Roller Coaster Race Zips into Magic Springs
Charlottesville, VA (PRWEB) October 08, 2015 -- Runners and roller coaster enthusiasts are gearing up for Roller Coaster Race, which is coming to Magic Springs in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Saturday, October 17. Online registration is open for its original-concept race until Tuesday, October 13. Hot Springs is located in the Diamond Lakes region, a travel destination in the scenic Ouachita Mountains, and is the only American city that resides in a national park. The race takes place on the second weekend of “Magic Screams,” the amusement park’s Halloween-themed event, and marks Roller Coaster Race’s sixth and final event of its 2015 season.
The novel Roller Coaster Race promotes fitness and entertainment for the entire family by holding USATF-sanctioned running events for all skill levels and ages. Participants can register for either the 10K race or the 5K run/walk, which start at 11:00 am when the park is closed to the public. Additionally, roller coaster enthusiasts and runners alike can sign up for the optional Roller Coaster Ride for a separate fee. Riders earn a medal by racking up cumulative “5K ride distance” on Magic Spring’s roller coasters.
After online registration closes on October 13 runners and riders can register for all three events at the host hotel, Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa, on Friday, October 16 from 3:00-7:00pm. Participants are invited to attend the social hour on the same day from 5:00-7:00pm.
Event registration fee includes park admission (registration discount offered to season pass holders), free parking, high-tech shirt, custom finisher medal, post-race refreshments, and exclusive ride time. The scenic race course loops around some of the park’s famous roller coasters such as Arkansas Twister and Big Bad John. An added bonus for participants is that all five of the Magic Springs coasters will be operating this day, which won’t occur at any other time during the “Magic Screams” Halloween season.
“Historic Hot Springs is a beautiful destination with a broad array of activities to choose from,” says Adam Slate, Roller Coaster Race Director. “We hope folks will participate in the race or Roller Coaster Ride and then stay to enjoy an evening of spooky fun at the park. Between the park, our race, and the city’s numerous entertainment offerings, there’s something for everyone to have a fun-filled weekend.”
Roller Coaster Race supports the following charities through its fundraising program: First Step Arkansas, SYTA Running for Youth, and the National Roller Coaster Museum & Archives. Additionally, runners and riders may make donations during event registration or by visiting the Charities page on the Roller Coaster Race web site.
