Yearly Divorce Statistics in Oregon
Total Number Of Children Under 18 Affected By Divorce In The State Of Oregon
Around half of all marriages that end up in divorce do not involve any children. In the first post Johnston discusses the timing in life when a couple may decide to divorce.
“Nearly half of divorces each year involve no children, and most divorces occur before a third child enters the family. These rates have not changed much over the past 15 years and shed some light on when in a relationship many couples decide to divorce.”
In this post there is also a table that displays the number of children affected each year by divorce from year 2000 to 2014. These numbers stay fairly consistent over the years with a few high and low points. The year 2013 had the lowest number of divorces at 6,761 and the highest number occurred in the year 2000.
In the second post of this series regarding Oregon divorce statistics, Johnston talks about the state of Oregon and breaks down the divorces from month to month. While there was an attempt to determine which month contained the most divorces, the numbers are all relatively close. He also analyzes the number of divorces in Oregon throughout the years beginning in 1995 and running through September 2014.
To summarize the information and data of this post, Johnston says:
• The percentage of children under the age of 18 in the state of Oregon affected by divorce is around 57%, meaning that just over half of marriages that end involve children.
• If a divorce is going to occur it typically happens before a third child enters the equation.
• While the divorce rate is still high, the data involving population in the state of Oregon and the number of divorces over the years may show an actual decrease in the rate of divorce.
