Rosemont Copper Leverages Intelex to Support Sustainability Mandate
Toronto (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Intelex is pleased to announce that Rosemont Copper will use Intelex’s leading environmental management solutions to ensure sustainable and responsible operations at its Pima County project.
Rosemont will use Intelex software to manage water systems documentation, permits, sustainability metrics, auditing and more to ensure the highest degree of environmental stewardship and, in tandem with an array of other technological tools, to minimize water usage and maximize replenishment.
“Intelex software is part of an arsenal of state-of-the-art operational and processing technologies that will enable Rosemont to use 50 percent less water than traditional mining practices,” explains Kathy Arnold, Vice President of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs at Rosemont Copper. “Environmental stewardship is one of our core values and we utilize the best technologies to minimize environmental impacts across all our operations, including our Pima County operations.”
Rosemont turned to Intelex in order to consolidate all environmental management activities and processes within one centralized system. With Intelex, Rosemont will have real-time visibility into all data associated with water use and replenishment as well as all permitting and compliance requirements.
Already a progressive voice in sustainability leadership, Rosemont sought a system to better monitor, track and analyze metrics related to regulatory compliance and environmental management.
“We’re honoured to develop a relationship with a business as committed to environmental leadership as Rosemont,” says Mark Jaine, President and CEO of Intelex. “We love that Rosemont has taken environmental stewardship to its foremost accountability and that it strives to achieve minimal environmental impacts – namely water use – at its Pima County project. At Intelex we work to help companies minimize their impacts in the world, and we’re thrilled to work with a company like Rosemont that so well aligns with that mandate.”

About Rosemont Copper: The Rosemont Copper project is located in Pima County, approximately 30 miles southeast of Tucson, Arizona, and contains a world-class open-pit copper/molybdenum/silver deposit. Located in an existing mining district, Rosemont Copper will set a high standard for sustainable mining practices, including using solar power, consuming less than half the water as traditional mines, and reclaiming the site from the start of operations as permanent open space. Arizona, the copper state, produces 65 percent of the United States’ supply of copper on only a quarter of one percent of the state’s land. Rosemont Copper is expected to provide more than 10 percent of the U.S. copper supply while requiring less than half the land area of other Pima County mines. A recent study by Arizona State University showed the region would benefit over the life of the mine, adding 406 direct and 1700 indirect jobs, $3 billion in increased personal income, $404 million in local taxes and $15 billion in local economic revenue.
