Ruby Enables High Performance and Scalable Remote Monitoring of Manufacturing Units

The platform has the ability for connected devices to stream extremely large amounts of sensor data, securely, in real time. The platform also has the ability to perform real-time analytics on this data and influence decision making. As an example, a supervisor in a manufacturing plant can keep track of the operational efficiency of all the Altizon-connected machines in his plant, in real time and take corrective actions if he is falling behind schedule. Analytics on data gathered directly from his machines would help production planning, execution and maintenance.
The Altizon Datonis platform needed to be able to handle large streams of sensor data from multiple geographies and have the ability to scale up with increasing volumes. The platform needed to be flexible with the ability to handle different sources of data. The system needed to be deployed as a SAAS platform which has its own set of software development challenges: high availability, easy deployment to commodity hardware, constant monitoring and easy to scale up.
Josh was Altizon’s exclusive development partner and the two teams collaborated extremely closely in building out the platform. Josh’s expertise and their deep understanding of Rails best practices played a big role on the platform going live on schedule.
