Rug Rats Is Moving Its Custom Logo Rug Business Exclusively Online

According to founder and owner Sandy Henderson, the timing for such a switch is perfect. It gives her the flexibility to focus on the burgeoning custom logo rug segment of the market.
“Going to an exclusively online presence will give us the ability to further increase our specialization in custom rugs in ways that we are, frankly, unable to do now with a storefront,” says Henderson.
After only a few years, it became apparent that Rug Rats was taking well to the new digitized age of marketing. In 2008, online demand for business was so high that Henderson closed the storefront for a few years. She reopened in order to help manage the carpet department at Green Front Furniture.
Now, as online business once again soars and Henderson permanently shutters the physical building, she looks forward to continuing to be actively involved with every part of the day-to-day operations of Rug Rats, just as she always has been.
Since starting the business in 1987, there is virtually no aspect of the rug-making process that Henderson hasn’t done personally, including tracing, cutting, and even hand carving the beveled edges of custom designed rugs. And, today, when you call, just like when Rug Rats first opened, Henderson will be the voice on the other end of the line.
“I have loved the customers, going into their homes and seeing all kinds of decor,” says Henderson. “I have seen some of the most beautiful homes in three states.” As the business has grown, Rug Rats has shipped custom rugs not only to nearby states but also across the country, including to movie sets in Hollywood.
