Russian Post Builds on PENETRON for Automated Logistics Center
East Setauket, New York (PRWEB) October 30, 2017 -- The Russian Post’s newly-automated postal logistics center in Kazan officially opened in October 2017 after a rigorous testing phase. PENETRON technology provided lasting durability for its underlying concrete structures.
Russian Post operations have experienced remarkable growth in recent years in the number of imported parcels. Package volumes in 2016 alone increased by 50% over the previous year. This has led to a program of expansion and upgrades for the Russian Post processing centers.
“With a steady growth in parcel post thanks to e-commerce, seven international exchange hubs in key locations across the country are being automated,” explains Igor Chernogolov, President of PENETRON Russia. “Kazan is one of the largest new facilities.”
The new Russian Post logistics center in Kazan is located near Tatarstan’s main international airport and has a 20-acre (8-hectares) footprint. The new center features a high level of automation and can now process over one million postal items and 100,000 parcels daily. Such large-scale dimensions demanded a robust waterproofing solution to ensure the durability of the massive concrete foundation and basement structures and to support the heavy processing systems.
PENETRON Kazan, the official dealer in the Republic of Tatarstan, supplied PENETRON ADMIX, which was added to the concrete mix during batching. In addition, a layer of PENETRON topical waterproofing material and PENECRETE MORTAR for any emerging cracks were applied for added protection.
