Rutgers University Announces Summer Certificate Program in Data Analytics and Big Data
New Brunswick, New Jersey (PRWEB) June 07, 2016 -- The Center for Innovation Education at Rutgers University is pleased to announce that it will be launching its Data Analytics/Big Data Certificate program again this summer, following overwhelming demand for the program when it was first offered in March 2016. The comprehensive, non-credit, skills-based technology career program is offered over 22 or 44 weeks, and begins again on July 18th 2016, allowing participants to gain a range of job-ready technical skills.
Rutgers University has once again partnered with Experiential Teaching Online (XTOL Corp.) to offer this online, collaboration-driven course focused on big data and data analytics to recent graduates and professionals in New Jersey and throughout the United States.
Graduates of the Data Analytics/Big Data program will:
• Gain a broad range of job-ready skills (technical and business) in numerous fields.
• Receive a Certificate of Completion.
• Complete a portfolio of professional-quality work to present to prospective employers.
The certificate was developed using a Story-Centered Curriculum approach, in which students are placed in authentic, team-based, professional roles that incorporate knowledge and skill-based tasks. In the program, faculty members mentor the students and evaluate student performance on work produced. The certificate is offered in two tracks, allowing individuals to complete it in 22 weeks on a full-time basis, or 44 weeks on a part-time basis. It includes 4 modules: Understanding Customer, Predicting Profitability and Customer Preferences, Web Mining and Deep Analytics and Visualization.
"The Rutgers Data Analytics/Big Data certificate provides critical skills to individuals who don’t necessarily have a computer science background," said Stephen Carter, Director of the Center for Innovation Education at Rutgers University. "Students acquire authentic experience at a more realistic pace conducive to learning and at a cost that they can afford."
One of the unique aspects of the certification program is the mentoring provided to students. The programs offer the convenience of an entirely online curriculum as well as individual and team-based faculty mentorship.
“I have found that the way the course is presented works perfectly for me because I have a full-time job. I can study at my own pace and have a mentor who provides guidance as I complete the real-world projects,” said one current student.
Stephen Carter, Director of the Center for Innovation Education said, "We are excited to bring back this innovative program and have seen it to be a valuable option for professionals who wish to expand their skill-set in the areas of data analytics and big data. We are continuing to meet the strong demand for highly skilled analytical employees in New Jersey and beyond.”
