RV Daily Report launches LetsRV.com, a new consumer site for recreation vehicle travel
SUN CITY, Ariz. (PRWEB) February 25, 2015 -- RV Daily Report today launched a new consumer-oriented website targeting recreation vehicle owners and celebrating the RV travel lifestyle.
LetsRV.com was developed by RV Daily Report Editor Greg Gerber and his business partner, Matt Smith, a web development expert. Both are active in full-time RVing.
"For years, people have encouraged me to develop a website targeted toward recreation vehicle owners and, for years, I have been trying to do it myself," said Gerber. "But, my vision for a website exceeded my capability to develop it. When I met Matt at a rally of full-time RV owners in 2013, I explained my vision and he immediately grasped the concept, saw the need and went to work making it a reality."
Like RV Daily Report, Phase One of LetsRV.com will aggregate a variety of content of specific interest to RV owners into one central location. From there, Let's RV will send out a daily newsletter featuring the best content discovered that day.
"When we started this project, I was amazed at the sheer amount of quality information available to RV owners, whether it is a video, blog, podcast, dealer website, campground social media page or feature story," said Gerber. "But, when looking at this information, it was sad to see that it only had a few dozen or few hundred views.
"People have grown to appreciate how we deliver industry news to RV professionals in a way that allows them to scan various categories to read a headline and story summary so that, within minutes, they can keep abreast of what's happening in the business side of the RV industry," he added. "Those who desire more information, can click through to the original source for the complete story.
"I think consumers will appreciate our ability to find relevant information and deliver it to them in a similar manner," he explained, noting that all stories on Let's RV can also be shared to a variety of social media outlets.
Let's RV will publish two newsletters -- a daily newsletter linking to the best content found that day on the Internet, and a weekly newsletter featuring content prepared by Let's RV's own writers and product reviewers. Both newsletters are free of charge.
Industry support
Several companies have stepped forward to become founding advertisers to support the Let's RV website and newsletters. They include Coast Distribution, Stromberg Carlson, Motorhomes.com and Roadmaster. Others are expected to jump on board soon.
"I really appreciative the support of these industry partners," said Gerber. "Like me, they know RV owners are hungry for information, but they don't have the time to search for it themselves. Along the same line, industry bloggers, podcasters and content providers are seeking a larger audience for the wonderful information they prepare. We're going to connect the two."
Phase One of Let's RV will also feature product reviews and campground reviews written by people who actually use the products for full-time RVing, and who enjoy extended stays at the campgrounds.
"This gives us a lot of credibility because the reviews are honest assessments by people who spend a lot of time on the road," said Gerber. "Other publications do reviews, but often only when a company pays them to do so. That's not the case with Let's RV."
By partnering with the Fulltime Families organization and other consumer groups, Let's RV will get those RVers to review those products that have made a difference in their enjoyment of the RV lifestyle, he explained.
"We are also working on developing a system for evaluating campgrounds that is not based on the size of an advertisement the campground wishes to make, but rather on a specific set of criteria that RVers helped us develop to ensure the reviews are consistent," he added.
Experienced writers
Several experienced writers have already joined the Let's RV team. They include:
• Christopher Dougherty, "The RV Medic," who will offer service advice and maintenance tips. Dougherty is a certified technician who has written for several other RV publications in the past.
• Dana Ticknor, matriarch of the "Ticknor Tribe," which consists of two parents and 12 children, nine of which travel the country full time. A former Good Sam blogger, she will have her own blog at Let's RV and focus on destination stories, RV families and reviews.
• Bob Gordon, a full-time RVer for many years after his retirement from the University of Illinois, will write about RV destinations and lifestyle issues in addition to offering reviews.
• Bryanna Royal is a full-time mom who roadschools her four children as they crisscross the country experiencing their "crazy family adventure." She will be a feature writer, blogger and reviewer for Let's RV.
"I have covered the RV industry as a journalist since 2000 and have always appreciated the RV industry for its ability to help families connect with each other and create wonderful memories," said Gerber. "But, it was not until last spring, after I bought a motorhome and actually started full-time RVing, that I truly fell in love with the RV lifestyle. It has so much to offer people of all ages -- especially younger families. The experiences that these people enjoy as they explore different cultures, learn history, make new friends and engage in true adventure, is something that cannot be found anywhere else.
"Let's RV will celebrate all that, while providing practical information to help RV owners and RV dreamers get the most out of the RV lifestyle," he added.
