Sacramento Marketing Professional Nominated to Receive $25,000 Grant for her Work with the Hispanic Community
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- After years of volunteering and encouraging Latina women to do the same, local marketing professional, Angela Rosas, has been nominated to become the Coors Light 2014 Líder of the Year. She is one of 12 Hispanic individuals throughout the United States and Puerto Rico to be nominated for her exceptional contributions to the Latino community. Now it is up to the public to visit http://www.coorslightlideres.com through October 30 to cast their vote for Angela.
If Angela is chosen as the Coors Light Líder of the Year, her organization, Chicas Latinas de Sacramento, will receive a $25,000 grant to develop and implement a community leadership program in partnership with Coors Light.
“This nomination comes as no surprise to us, and everyone at our firm is rallying to make sure Angela and her work receives well-deserved support and recognition,” said Eric Ratinoff, founding partner of Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff LLP. “Angela is a catalyst for change in Sacramento, and since she joined our team just over a year ago she has not only strengthened our ties to the Latino community but has built an even stronger base for organizations in the area through our firm’s monthly sponsored #Network4Cause networking events. The community is fortunate to have her leadership, and so are we!”
“I am honored to be chosen for this year’s Coors Light Líderes program,” said Angela Rosas, founder of Chicas Latinas de Sacramento. “Coors Light has made a commitment to the Hispanic community by investing in emerging Latino leadership, and I am grateful for the opportunity to win a grant for Chicas Latinas de Sacramento. This grant will allow us to serve our community in a way we have yet been able to. I hope the public votes for me in support of my nonprofit’s mission, our dedicated members and volunteers, and our future of continued service in the Sacramento community.”
According to the Coors Light contest, Angela was chosen as one of the 2014 Coors Light Líderes because of her relentless volunteerism, which is the basis for her organization, Chicas Latinas de Sacramento. She began the organization just five years ago as a social and cultural outlet for Latina women in this region, and it has since grown into a solid base of active volunteers who support a variety of other great Sacramento based community organizations. By providing the Sacramento community with Chicas Latinas volunteers they’ve filled a void in the community, giving back to those in need, and providing their members with the opportunity to give, learn, grow, create, lead, and discover their voice.
“Coors Light has a long history of supporting the communities we impact, and we are proud to highlight and reward emerging Latino leaders who are making a difference,” said Alberto Senior, director, community commerce and partnerships for MillerCoors. “All 12 Líderes exemplify determination and commitment, not only in their professional careers, but in helping others.”
If chosen as the Coors Light 2014 Líder of the Year, Angela Rosas and Chicas Latinas de Sacramento will use the $25,000 grant to implement a leadership program that will directly benefit the Sacramento community.
Chicas Latinas de Sacramento’s programs have inspired a culture of volunteerism and civic engagement within the community and aims to take the program to the youth, inspiring a new generation of change and leadership.
Since 2006, the Coors Light Líderes program has raised awareness and highlighted the achievements of national and local leaders within the Hispanic community. The program offers up-and-coming Latino professionals leadership tools, counsel and networking opportunities.
