Sacramento, California (PRWEB) October 08, 2014 -- Next Thursday evening, October 16, 2014, Souletics STEM will hold their first fundraiser, hosted by Sacramento attorney Eric Ratinoff at Mayahuel in downtown Sacramento.
Souletics STEM, an acronym for science, technology, engineering and math, was founded by 18 year Intel engineer and 2-sport professional athlete Damon J. Smith. Smith was born and raised in Vallejo, California, and noted early on that there weren't many others with his background in Silicon Valley.
Through a cutting edge STEM curriculum, the organization teaches young adults to develop critical thinking skills, and incorporates health and wellness to empower them with the mental and physical self-discipline required to become successful contributors to their communities. Additionally, they provide training for educators and assist administrators in developing successful STEM programs within their school districts.
“In addition to engineering and technology, we teach the non-cognitive skills young people need to acquire advanced learning,” says Smith. “Perseverance, resiliency, and self-discipline are critical skills that will not only empower young people for future careers, but these are also the qualities that will set them apart in a competitive job market.”
After partnering with Inderkum High School for the past year, the organization is preparing for a 2015 launch of their full scale program with students from select high schools in the Sacramento/Bay Area region.
“We're always happy to support organizations that provide educational resources for young people,” says Eric Ratinoff, whose monthly networking for charity events have supported nearly a dozen area non-profits since it began last November. “This is our future. And this program is especially unique in that it bridges the gap between STEM professionals and educators, creating real pathways from school to industry.”
The event is free, and Mayahuel will be donating half of all drink proceeds to the organization. Space is limited, however, so they encourage people to sign up early via their Eventbrite page. For more information, visit http://www.SouleticsSTEM.org or http://www.EricRatinoff.com/Network4Cause
