Saddleback Leather Company Announces Upcoming Educational Benefits for Employees' Children
Fort Worth, Texas (PRWEB) July 27, 2015 -- While fair wages and safe working conditions have become increasingly more important to American consumers, Saddleback Leather Company is already ahead of the curve. The Texas-based company has always held “people before profits” as a guiding principle, and nowhere is that more clear than at Saddleback’s production center in Mexico. The company has announced that as of September 2015 the children of their employees will be able to go to an educational center that will open doors for them should they want higher education.
“Before I started Saddleback, I spent a lot of time in the Guanajuato-area teaching English. I got to see the needs of the community and the problems my local friends faced,” said Dave Munson, founder of Saddleback Leather Company. “As we grew as a company, it was one of our earliest priorities to make Old Mexico Manufacturing a place that honors our employees as whole people.”
Saddleback Leather has partnered with Centro NOE to help the children of Old Mexico Manufacturing with a state accredited English program along with art classes and sports. Currently they have two learning centers in Morelia where the high school graduation rate is 27%. The graduation rate for those who have gone through Centro NOE’s program jumps to 87%.
“We expect to have 150 students the first year and grow to 275 students by the second year” according to Brian Overcast, Executive Director of Noè International.
Part of Saddleback’s holistic vision is the belief that health, education, counseling, nutrition, and family are all essential aspects of a good life. Plans to open a childcare center for employees are underway as well.
Purified drinking water is provided at all times, along with subsidized, nutritious lunches. Every employee’s birthday is celebrated, along with Mexican holidays, as well as optional English lessons.
Marriage counseling and life-skill classes are offered to help employees flourish outside of the workplace. As a celebration of love, commitment, and relationships, a party is held each Valentine’s Day, and employees are given free taxi rides to and from the party.
Old Mexico Manufacturing is equipped with a resident nurse, and physicians who visit daily. Medical care is free for all Old Mexico Manufacturing employees and their families. If any medicine is prescribed and readily available, it’s provided to employees at no cost. Dentists also visit annually to complete complimentary dental procedures for employees.
More educational programs are constantly being added to the roster, including extra vocational training, and free elementary and secondary educations for employees.
