SAE Foundation Appoints Three New Board of Trustee Members
Warrendale, PA (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Three accomplished industry leaders and public servants will join the SAE Foundation Board of Trustees for three-year terms beginning January 2014.
The new SAE Foundation Board members include:
Bob Last, Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Compliance at FEV, Inc., began his career as one of the first two engineers employed by FEV in North America. Over a career that spans 30 years, he has worked for FEV in North America as well as at the company’s European Headquarters. He has been instrumental in guiding the growth of the company over that period as it grew from a start-up operation with three employees in 1985 to a large engineering services organization of over 400 people in North America. Mr. Last applies his knowledge in mechanical engineering and global marketing/business management to help guide the business decisions of FEV and positively impact the company’s growth and profitability. He received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) from Arizona State University and also holds an MBA in global management. Mr. Last is a long-time supporter of SAE and the SAE Foundation and works tirelessly to help companies understand the importance and relevance of STEM education on business success and competitiveness.
Representative Adam Zemke represents the 55th House District in Michigan and joins the Foundation Board of Trustees with a storied history of involvement with SAE International’s Collegiate Design Series. Rep. Zemke received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University, where he served as the project manager for the Formula SAE racing team. Rep. Zemke is committed to SAE’s programs and dedicates his time because he values the importance of the experience provided and how it relates to gainful employment on each participant's horizon.
Dan Nicholson is the Executive Director for Global Powertrain Embedded Controls at General Motors. Mr. Nicholson earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University), a master’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and a master of business administration degree from Stanford University. He understands what it takes to succeed and thrive in STEM-related fields. He began his career with General Motors in 1982 as a co-op student at the Buick Motor Division. He has an extensive background in product engineering and subsequently progressed through a series of leadership positions including engineering group manager, director of controller integration, director of engine development, calibration and validation, and head of Powertrain Product Engineering Europe. As a collegiate member of SAE’s Formula SAE team, Mr.Nicholson knows first-hand the practicality and real-life importance of SAE’s STEM programs.
