SAE International Honors Laura Hitchcock of Boeing with J. Cordell Breed Award for Women Leaders
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) February 25, 2015 -- Laura E. Hitchcock, Senior Project Manager with The Boeing Company, will be honored with the SAE International J. Cordell Breed Award for Women Leaders, during the SAE 2015 AeroTech Congress & Exhibition which will be held September 22-24 in Seattle, Wash. She will receive the award at the Annual Banquet during the Awards Presentation.
The J. Cordell Breed Award for Women Leaders, which was established by the SAE International Women Engineers Committee, is designed to recognize a woman active in the mobility industry who has achieved the best balance of life by outstanding performance or significant contributions in two or more of the following areas, including exhibits outstanding service to her company and community; demonstrates excellent leadership as a supervisor, manager, or in team environments; displays innovation and uniqueness in achieving corporate and personal goals; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills; provides important engineering or technical contributions to the mobility industry; overcomes adversity and participates in and is involved with SAE International activities.
As Senior Standards Specialist and Corporate Project Manager for External Standards Management, Strategy and Policy, Hitchcock serves as The Boeing Company’s enterprise-wide focal for issues regarding government, industry and international standards activities and has responsibility for external standards policy and strategy for the company. She has been working with standards for more than 35 years, the last 29 with Boeing’s Corporate Standards Organization. She leads company efforts to develop strategic standardization management plans and policies that leverage Boeing’s standards activities to support corporate goals.
Hitchcock serves on the Board of Directors for the American National Standards Institute, chairs ANSI’s International Policy Committee and has served as Boeing’s representative on ANSI’s Company Member Forum for the last 18 years. She is a recent member of the Board of Directors for SAE International and chairs SAE’s Aerospace Council and is a member of the SAE Technical Standards Board. She also is ASME’s Senior Vice President for Standards and Certification and Chair of ASME’s Council on Standards & Certification. Hitchcock has authored numerous standards related papers and articles and received many awards including the W.T. Cavanaugh Memorial Award; the Leo B. Moore Medal; the ANSI Meritorious Service Award; the SAE International Outstanding Achievement Award; the George S. Wham Leadership Medal, and IFAN’s George Garel Award.
