SAE International’s Aero Engine Supplier Quality (AESQ) Committee Launches First Standard – Problem Solving
(PRWEB) July 24, 2014 -- SAE International’s G22 Aero Engine Supplier Quality (AESQ) committee today announced the publication of its Problem Solving Standard (AS13000); the first formal output from the Technical Committee since its formation in 2013.
The group's mission is to improve the quality capability of the shared supply chain and reduce costs through eliminating waste.
The group aims to harmonise its current supplier quality management requirements using the following key principles:
i. Create simple, prescriptive standards requirements
ii. Establish clear acceptance criteria
iii. Create a common language for quality
iv. Build on existing industry best practice, where it exists
The problem solving standard adopts the 8D approach that is widely recognized across industry. It can also be supported globally through existing external training and consultancy organisations, therefore meeting the key principles of the AESQ.
Olivier Castets, Quality Manager at Snecma(Safran), led the working group, ‘Our previous processes had the same intent but the way we described them or reported them were very different. For suppliers this was causing a high level of unintended complexity. I believe that we have created a new standard that will remove that complexity.’
The standard is now available via (http://standards.sae.org/as13000). Each of the member companies is committed to implementing the new standard and will be communicating a specific deployment schedule to its own supply chain over the coming months.
The committee is also continuing to work on other standards for publication later this year. This will include a Supplier Self Release training program, Inspection frequency requirements and Measurement Systems Analysis. A working group focused on Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis has also been launched.
