Safe@Height's Recommendations in Response to the Latest Fatality Report
Brisbane, QLD (PRWEB) February 14, 2014 -- Safe@Heights has released a list of recommendations in response to the latest workplace Fatality Report. The report revealed that there were 50 reported deaths related to working at heights. The deaths were separated into 3 categories:
24 fatalities from falling objects
23 fatalities from falls from a height
3 fatalities resulting from falls at the same level
This very high number highlights the need for job specific height safety equipment and training. This figure only shows the actual deaths. It does not list the hundreds of injuries which result in millions of dollars of lost productivity and large fines upon the PCBU. The devastating impact upon not only the person injured but also their families and fellow workers can be enormous. Many accidents can be avoided, thus also avoiding the unnecessary stress and cost associated with a workplace injury or death.
Safe@Heights has come out with the following recommendations to avoid workplace injury:
Complete a safety audit and report;
Make safety recommendations;
Provide training and support;
Supply and install permanent equipment and height safety solutions;
Supply all PPE equipment and training for height safety and confined space.
