SafeLogic CEO Returns to the RSA Security Conference to Discuss Internet of Things Vulnerabilities
Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) April 17, 2015 -- SafeLogic, the company re-inventing how encryption is delivered, will feature CEO Ray Potter as a speaking delegate to the prestigious RSA Security Conference for the second consecutive year. The conference will be held once more at San Francisco’s Moscone Center, on April 20-24, 2015.
Potter will be joined on stage by Yier Jin, Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida, who earned acclaim last year for his research on hacking the popular Nest thermostat. Jin first unveiled his initial findings at Black Hat 2014 in Las Vegas and will be discussing these results along with his team’s further research.
The joint session is titled “Don’t Touch That Dial: How Smart Thermostats Have Made Us Vulnerable” and is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 at 11:30 AM local time in San Francisco, in the Moscone Center West Building, Room 3022. The topic will not be limited to the Nest, however. The methodology for Jin's now-famous crack of the Nest thermostat will provide the key blueprint for a pragmatic security discussion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable device landscape that spans far beyond the smart thermostat acquired by Google.
“I can’t wait to share my thoughts on IoT vulnerabilities with the attendees of RSA 2015,” said the SafeLogic CEO. “Between my own experiences and Yier Jin’s research, this will be a very candid look at how little we have accomplished in security for devices that are rapidly gaining popularity. It’s a real problem that needs to be solved as soon as possible.”
SafeLogic customers will be leading the technology on display at the RSA Conference exhibit hall. In alphabetical order:
