SafeNet Assured Technologies Launches New Line of Hardware Security Modules Developed for U.S. Government Use
Abingdon, MD (PRWEB) August 17, 2015 -- SafeNet Assured Technologies, LLC, a U.S. based provider of government high assurance data security solutions, today announced the release of its new Luna Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) for Government. Luna HSMs for Government are manufactured, sold, and supported in the U.S. exclusively by SafeNet Assured Technologies, thus providing U.S. Federal Government agencies with an HSM that has a U.S. supply chain lifecycle.
Hardware Security Modules are dedicated crypto processors designed to protect the cryptographic key lifecycle. HSMs serve as trust anchors that protect an organization’s cryptographic infrastructure by securely managing, processing, and storing cryptographic keys inside a hardened, tamper resistant device.
SafeNet Assured Technologies’ HSMs for Government provide reliable protection for transactions, identities, and applications by securing cryptographic keys and provisioning encryption, decryption, authentication, and digital signing services. The company’s product line includes three different Luna Hardware Security Modules for Government:
- Luna SA for Government: A network-attached HSM that protects encryption keys used by applications in on-premise, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Luna G5 for Government: A USB-attached HSM that is ideal for storing root cryptographic keys in an offline key storage device.
- Luna PCI-E for Government: An embedded HSM that protects cryptographic keys and accelerates sensitive cryptographic operations.
Luna HSMs for Government are derived from industry-leading technology honed for decades by SafeNet, Inc. (now Gemalto) and will be functionally equivalent to those now produced by Gemalto. The new HSMs for Government will feature SafeNet Assured Technologies controlled firmware. Although Luna HSMs for Government are intended for U.S. Federal Government use, they will be available to other U.S. based entities and allied nation governments.
SafeNet Assured Technologies will manufacture and support its HSMs exclusively in the United States. “We’re providing our federal customers with the same level of excellence they’ve experienced with legacy SafeNet, Inc. SafeNet Assured Technologies’ customers can migrate their existing SafeNet, Inc. Luna HSMs to the Luna HSM for Government version. This migration replaces legacy firmware with new code maintained, compiled, and signed by SafeNet Assured Technologies. The migration is available free of charge to SafeNet Assured Technologies’ customers with up-to-date maintenance plans.
