Saffron Cross, an Interfaith Memoir, Wins Gold Award
Nashville, Tennessee (PRWEB) January 18, 2015 -- Fresh Air Books, an imprint of Upper Room Books, a nonprofit Christian ministry in Nashville, TN, is pleased to announce that Saffron Cross: The Unlikely Story of How a Christian Minister Married a Hindu Monk by J. Dana Trent recently won a gold award in the Biography/Memoir category of the 2015 Illumination Book Awards.
This is the second award Saffron Cross has won. In November it was named a finalist in the Religion: Christianity category of the 2014 USA Best Books Awards.
Saffron Cross tells the story of how Dana Trent, a Baptist minister, met and fell in love with Fred Eaker, a devout Hindu. Laced with humor and honesty, this memoir of an interfaith relationship offers readers a glimpse into the challenges of bringing two vastly different spiritual paths into one household.
Jana Reiss, author of Flunking Sainthood, says of Saffron Cross: “Trent puts a human, and often humorous, face on the growing reality of interfaith marriage. From her struggles to become a vegetarian to her Hindu husband’s efforts to understand Christian prayer, Trent’s account reveals a partnership that succeeds in mutual respect and love.”
Dana Trent is a writer, speaker, and teacher who lives in Raleigh, North Carolina. A graduate of Duke Divinity School, she is an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist tradition. Trent blogs at jdanatrent.com.
Fresh Air Books are designed for spiritually curious people who are interested in the relevance of faith for our culture. These resources explore topics not covered by most Christian publishers.
The Illumination Awards celebrate and recognize the exemplary books produced by the ever-growing Christian branch of publishing and bookselling. A vast array of new titles is released from this thriving sector each year, bringing inspiration and answers to millions of readers exploring their faith.
