Saint Luke's Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute Announces 2014 Symposium
Kansas City, Missouri (PRWEB) September 08, 2014 -- Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute (SLMBNI), one of the region’s pre-eminent neurological facilities, in conjunction with the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) School of Medicine and Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City will present the Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute 2014 Symposium on Sept. 19, 2014 at Bartle Hall – Kansas City Convention Center.
The symposium is for primary care physicians, family physicians, neurosurgeons, neurologists, neurointensivists, psychiatrists, nurses, case managers and social workers, EMS providers and other health care professionals. The program will focus on a multidisciplinary approach to patients with neurologic disorders and review current treatment paradigms.
Lectures and break-out sessions will focus on movement disorders, stroke, epilepsy, neurointerventional care, brain tumor surgery, relationship of hearing loss and dementia, traumatic head injury and spinal cord injury, neurorehabilitation, dizziness, neuroradiology and healthy brain aging. Specialized breakout sessions will be provided for physicians, nurses, and EMS providers. Speakers will include leading neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neuropsychiatrists speaking about new approaches for diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of neurological illnesses and disorders.

The symposium will be held Sept. 19, 2014, at Bartle Hall – Kansas City Convention Center, 301 West 13th Street in Kansas City, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the UMKC School of Medicine and Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City. The UMKC School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The UMKC School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Saint Luke’s Health System is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Missouri Nurses Association and this event represents 8.0 contact hours, including up to 5.5 hours of stroke and 3.0 hours of trauma. For EMS providers, 8.0 hours of MO EMS CE is provided by LifeFlight Eagle. The event has been approved for up to 8.0 credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians and has been approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for a maximum of 8.0 hours of ACEP Category I credit.
