Saint Thomas Academy to Host Event Honoring Vince Flynn’s Legacy and Nationwide Launch of ‘The Survivor’
Mendota Heights, Minn. (PRWEB) July 21, 2015 -- In cooperation with the Vince Flynn Estate, his family, Simon & Schuster's Atria Books and the Har Mar Mall Barnes & Noble, Saint Thomas Academy is proud to host the nationwide release of The Survivor, the next book in Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series of political thrillers. New York Times best-selling author Kyle Mills, who completed the book started by Flynn prior to his death in 2013, and several of Flynn's family and friends will participate in panel discussions honoring the man, and his contributions to literary fiction and Saint Thomas Academy. Tickets for the event, to be held Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in Vincent J. Flynn Hall at Saint Thomas Academy, are now on sale at: http://www.cadets.com/VinceFlynn. Proceeds benefit Saint Thomas Academy.
Flynn, a 1984 graduate of Saint Thomas Academy, was a long-time supporter of the school and served as a member of the board of trustees. “Saint Thomas Academy was very influential in who Vince became, how he lived his life, and, of course, his career,” said his wife, Lysa. “It is incredibly gratifying to have Atria Books and Kyle Mills continue Vince’s literary legacy as well as his support of Saint Thomas Academy. I’m sure Vince would be thrilled.”
The evening will feature two panel discussions, both moderated by Flynn’s personal friend, current Saint Thomas Academy parent and WCCO-TV Anchor Frank Vascellaro:
- Mills, Flynn's only editor, Emily Bestler, senior VP and editor-in-chief of Emily Bestler Books; and Flynn's agent, Sloan Harris, will discuss how and why Mills was chosen to continue the Mitch Rapp series, the process Mills went through to learn about the series and its characters and voice, and Flynn’s rise from unknown author selling books from the trunk of his car to world famous writer getting invited to the White House.
- Twin Cities’ media personalities Joe Soucheray, Dan Barreiro and Tom Barnard; Flynn’s brother Tim; and Flynn’s childhood friend Tom Tracy will share their personal perspectives on Flynn
Following the two panels, there will be a question-and-answer period with all of the panelists taking questions from the audience.
“Knowing Vince Flynn meant a great deal to me, both personally and professionally,” Flynn’s editor, Bestler, said. “The opportunity to commemorate his life’s work at a school that helped shape him into the wonderful man he was feels like the perfect way to honor his career and continuing legacy.”
The event will be held in the Flynn/Sjoberg Arena in Vincent J. Flynn Hall. Tickets are available at the following prices:
- V.I.P. section–$1,000 each and includes specialty items and an after-party with the panelists catered by The Saint Paul Hotel. Limited to 100 people.
- Floor section–$125 each
