SalesAgility opens the doors for the UK Open Source Awards 2015
Edinburgh (PRWEB UK) 4 February 2015 -- The UK Open Source Awards are being held in Edinburgh on Wednesday February 25th. Individuals and organisations involved in or having an interest in open source should attend. This is one of the must-attend events of the year. It's a free event with technical and strategy sessions running through the afternoon and networking, wine, soft drinks, finger buffet and Keynote Speakers leading up to the Awards Event in the evening. It's also one of the best networking opportunities of the year.
With the nomination process now open, interested parties are urged to submit applications before the upcoming deadlines.
Nominations will close on Wednesday 11th February. Nomination categories are Company/Organisation, Project/Person and Student. There's a £1,000 prize for the Student award. The criteria for nominations is sufficiently elastic to embrace open source in its widest sense.
Hailed for its role in identifying and rewarding excellence in open source, the Awards is both a great event for making new contacts and for discovering some of the key trends and emerging topics. Arrive in Edinburgh in the early afternoon, get some heavy hitting knowledge during the afternoon sessions, and mix and socialise with some serious open source heavyweights in the evening. If delegates coming from out of town, the Awards finish early enough to get the last train or plane home.
This year's keynote speaker is Karen Sandler of the Software Freedom Conservancy with another great talk expected from Keith Bergelt, CEO of the Open Invention Network (OIN). There are technical sessions from NHS England, CGI and Sopra Steria. In addition there are Strategy sessions with Amanda Brock and Karen Sandler who'll be discussing IP and licensing, Glyn Moody who'll be covering the state of open source and Greg Skelton from Palamida who will be discussing vulnerabilities and security.
