Salvation Army Coastal Alabama Asks Community To Help “Our Families in Need” For The Holidays
(PRWEB) December 10, 2015 -- The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama is asking the community to get into the holiday spirit this Christmas by helping families who are less fortunate and struggling to get back on their feet.
The ‘Our Families in Need’ campaign, in partnership with Alabama Media Group/Press-Register, shares the heartfelt stories of different families who have all dealt with individual tragic circumstances. The families profiled during the campaign are only a sampling of those with need in our community. They represent dozens of families throughout Coastal Alabama who are struggling to cope with health, finances, housing, employment and other concerns.
Some have been debilitated by chronic illness, while others have experienced unfortunate events that left them unable to provide for themselves. Half of all funds raised will support the operation of The Salvation Army’s Family Haven, where most families are housed and supported daily by The Salvation Army as they work to move from homelessness into stability and permanent housing. The other portion of the funds will go directly toward the families to meet their needs this holiday season.
“This campaign is one of The Salvation Army's most important campaigns of the year. Gifts received are used directly to assist families facing some of life's toughest circumstances. These can include sickness, loss of a family members or loss of work,” said Major C. Mark Brown, Area Commander for the Salvation Army.
“For me, the look of relief on a parents face is so moving when they realize The Salvation Army has somewhere safe and warm for them and their children to sleep,” Brown adds.
Each family’s unique story will be profiled each week on al.com until the end of December. To make a donation, please go to https://donate.salvationarmyusa.org
