Samantha Saunders releases 'Knitting for Toy Dog Breeds'
(PRWEB) February 27, 2015 -- TRALEE, Ireland – In her newly-released practical book for knitting enthusiasts, author Samantha Saunders shares some of her fun and easy-to-make knitting projects catering to both beginners and advanced knitters. "Knitting for Toy Dog Breeds" (published by Xlibris UK) features varied sweaters, dresses, toys, hoodies and hats designed for toy dog breeds.
In the winter of 1997, Saunders got her first Chihuahua she affectionately called Jazz. Being that time a cold season, she brought Jazz a pet jacket. To her surprise, the jacket did not fit well. Instead, it left most of Jazz's body exposed to the cold. Pet fashion in 1997 was still very limited and catered mostly only to the larger breeds. So out of necessity, Saunders decided to design her own well-fitting, warm-and-cozy clothing for Jazz. Thus began her knitting journey that evolved from just clothes to also include toys for dogs.
"The satisfaction of accomplishing your project in a relatively short amount of time is a great feeling," says Saunders, "whilst having your pet in stylish and warm apparel and saving money on expensive outfits and toys."
Even with the rising popularity of craft-making and the increasing number of people owning toy dog breeds, there is still a very limited selection of well-fitting sweaters. "Knitting for Toy Dog Breeds" renders a creative and practical way for pet owners to customize their pets’ clothing and accessories while effectively saving on cost.

About the Author
Samantha Saunders was born in the United Kingdom and immigrated to Ireland in 1993 with her mom, dad and sister Lin. She has always had a great love of animals and pets were a big part of her family life. Her first dog was a mixed breed collie called Dusty. Her father teased her the evening they brought her home saying, “if she cries all night we can’t keep her.” The next morning, they found her on the kitchen floor fast asleep with Dusty snuggled in her duvet. Saunders currently has four Chihuahuas aged 6 to 13 years - all of which are featured in this book.
