San Antonio Companies and Business Leaders take the Fit Company Challenge
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- On November 1st, 2014 a group of business leaders and company teams in San Antonio took part in the Fit Company Challenge, a corporate fitness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute providing area companies and business leaders an opportunity to show the importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle. Participants ranged in ages from professionals in their early 20’s to executives in their early 60’s and competed in categories for Fittest Executive, Entrepreneur, Doctor, Lawyer, and the coveted Fittest Company award.
Even with the event being held the morning after Halloween, companies came out in full force to show San Antonio they work fit with Biobridge Global taking home 1st place in the Fittest Company Category. “Biobridge Global participated in the Fit Company Challenge to further our organizations ongoing emphasis on healthy living and building a stronger, healthy workforce,” said Lisa Fults, Director of Product Management at Biobridge Global. “This was a great team building opportunity and we enjoyed preparing for it together, keeping each other accountable and now we will celebrate our success together.”
With the event recently being endorsed by the San Antonio Mayor’s Fitness Council, the first priority of the event was to bring together leaders in San Antonio to promote healthy living in the business community. Participants also saw it as a great way to step outside their normal fitness regimen and challenge themselves. “The Fit Company Fittest Executive Challenge was a great experience that forced me to mix up my cross training in preparation for the event,” said Ben Dolan, Sr. Director of Marketing at Deacon Recruiting and top finisher in the executive track. “Living fit is hugely important to us at Deacon Recruiting, since it affects all areas of your life, and this was a good reminder why you can't neglect any one aspect of your body if you want to be truly fit.”
Over 20 volunteers came out from 7 different local businesses to assist contenders through the courses and show their support towards turning San Antonio into one of the healthiest cities in America. While contenders got a chance to put their fitness to the test, they also got the opportunity to bring out company team members, and family members to cheer them on and even run with them during their 5k which was the last course in the challenge.
The challenge was held at Olmos Basin Sports Park, and a portion of the proceeds benefitted the Central Texas Back on my feet chapter, helping to change the lives of homeless people one mile, job, and house at a time.
