San Diego Author and Millionaire Girls’ Movement Founder Performs Her One-Woman Show to Benefit Local Charity
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- Ann marie Houghtailing, San Diego author and founder of the Millionaire Girls’ Movement, is partnering with UR Charities, Inc. to perform her critically-acclaimed, off-Broadway one-woman show, "Renegade Princess," for a two-night limited engagement in San Diego. All of the show proceeds of the May 9 and 10 performances are being donated to UR Charities, Inc. to raise funds to send 40 children who are Deaf from low-income homes to literacy camp.
Approximately 90 percent of children who are Deaf are born to hearing families, and most of those families never learn sign language, which means the children have significant difficulty communicating with their family. Sending children who are Deaf to literacy camp has a profound effect on the entire family.
"Renegade Princess" is the myth of the American fairy tale undone. Exploding with surprising, raw truth and dripping with self-deprecating humor, Houghtailing’s autobiographical tale is woven with humanity and irreverence into a wickedly sharp narrative. Marriage, living in Japan, motherhood, and the demands of post-divorce life provide a rich landscape for tenderness, humor, heartbreak and depth.
"Renegade Princess" is a quick-paced, outrageous and bawdy journey of one woman’s quest to rise above the myth. In 2012, Houghtailing toured "Renegade Princess" across the United States, and performed it in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Santa Fe, Los Angeles, and San Diego. The show received rave reviews from Forbes, Times Square Chronicles, and Woman Around Town.
“This partnership was born out of my own desire to use my work to make some difference in the world,” said Houghtailing. “I love the idea of using theater to bring people together to share an evening of entertainment that will also do some good in the world. We all struggle to make an impact; this is a really easy way for people to make a difference, just by attending a show and having a good time.”
Houghtailing, who is an international speaker and author of HOW I CREATED A DOLLAR OUT OF THIN AIR (The Houghtailing Group, May 2013, $19.99), works as a sales and business development coach for large corporations and entrepreneurs. She is also the founder of the Millionaire Girls’ Movement, which was profiled recently in a story on the Yahoo! Finance homepage.
UR Charities, Inc. is dedicated to helping fulfill the needs of kids and adults with special needs. They specialize in helping individuals figure out their true passion in life and how to enjoy it.
“Ann marie Houghtailing’s generous donation of her time and incredible talent will help us reach our goal of raising the money to send 40 kids who are Deaf to literacy camp,” said Lynda West, Founder and President of UR Charities, Inc. “These kids will form bonds that will last a lifetime and help them realize they are not alone.”
"Renegade Princess" takes place May 9 and 10, 2014, at 7 pm, at the Tenth Avenue Arts Centre. Ticket prices range from $25 general admission to $50 VIP reserved seating and a backstage pass and meet-and-greet reception with Houghtailing. More information can be found at http://renegadeprincess.com.
