San Diego County Announces Over $24.5 Million in Prescription Savings
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 24, 2015 -- San Diego County marked the fourth anniversary of its partnership with the Coast2Coast Rx program, the County's free prescription discount card that offers significant savings on thousands of prescriptions and other health care services. County officials announced today that the Coast2Coast Rx card has saved participating residents more than $24.5 million at its four-year anniversary. Since its launch in June 2011 -- 150,813 participants have used the card to fill 534,731 prescriptions with an average savings to date of about 62 percent in San Diego County.
San Diego County's endorsement of the program is based on the card's ability to save consumers significantly on their prescriptions and other healthcare services.
“The Coast2Coast Rx Card saves residents up to 75 percent on prescriptions and provides discounts on other healthcare services,” said San Diego County Supervisor Ron Roberts. “Our experience shows it is the card that keeps on giving in reduced prescription costs and other benefits.”
As many consumers struggle with the high cost of medications and health care expenses, the Coast2Coast Rx card allows many consumers to save on their needed prescriptions while creating a revenue stream ($1.35 per filled prescription) to assist County programs.
“This program helps County residents get the medications they need at prices they can afford,” said Supervisor Greg Cox. “It’s a money saver, but more importantly, it’s a lifesaver.”
The cards are available for residents to pick up at all San Diego County library branches. Also, consumers can easily access the card by simply printing it from the Coast2Coast Rx website - http://www.coast2coastrx.com/counties/ca/sandiego/.
The Coast2Coast Rx card allows all County residents, regardless of income, age, or health status to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications. The program has saved cardholders throughout the nation an average of 60% in 2015 on the cost of prescription drugs. The card can also be used for medications for pets. People living outside the County are able to take part in the program. The Rx card is distributed free of charge and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in San Diego County and includes more than 60,000 drugs.
