San Diego Tourism Marketing District To Begin Accepting Applications For Funding On October 24
San Diego, California (PRWEB) October 13, 2017 -- The San Diego Tourism Marketing District (SDTMD) will begin accepting applications for funding from tourism-related events and programs within the City of San Diego for fiscal year 2019 beginning October 24. SDTMD awards over $1.5 million in grant funding each year to applicants who can demonstrate the ability to generate incremental room night stays at TMD assessed hotels as well as a measureable return on investment (ROI) on TMD dollars.
This year, SDTMD has moved the application process online. Potential applicants can access the application at http://www.sdtmd.org/applications effective Oct. 24. Applications must be submitted to SDTMD by 5 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 8, 2017.
Additionally, SDTMD is hosting two applicant workshops on Tues., Oct. 24 and Fri., Nov. 3 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Workshops will provide an overview of the application process, insight on criteria used to select events for funding and an introduction to the new online submission system. The Oct. 24 workshop will be held at the Omni Hotel in downtown San Diego. The Nov. 3 workshop will be held at 12230 El Camino Real, San Diego CA, 92130.

It is important that applicants review the requirements when applying for funds as all events must demonstrate incremental growth in hotel room nights and ROI.
SDTMD is a funding conduit of sales and marketing programs and services that support tourism in San Diego. The SDTMD Board of Directors reviews each application submitted and awards funding to the marketing and sales programs likely to generate the most incremental room night sales at assessed properties. Past programs funded by SDTMD include California State Games, Red Bull Air Races, San Diego Bowl Games and Surf Challenge.
