San Francisco Portrait Photographer Angie Capri Announces Invitation to Provide Professional Photography at BOOKS for the BARRIOS Annual Auction on September 7
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- BOOKS for the BARRIOS is a California-based, non-profit organization, which gathers books for children and donates them throughout the world. They have sent over 12 million books overseas and trained teachers in developing countries. They are helping millions of children throughout the world.
Angie Capri was invited to contribute to the BOOKS for the BARRIOS annual auction on September 7th, 2013, at the Kensington Park Hotel in San Francisco, CA, and she gladly accepted. For Capri, this opportunity is very special, "I'm so honored to support the organization and the auction. I'm donating a gift certificate for $600 for any Professional Headshot Photography services. I choose professional headshots, because they are so necessary in today's world, for our professional lives, as well as for our personal lives on social media, and on dating websites. However, if the winner doesn't need new headshots, they are free to apply the $600 gift certificate to any other services from Angie Capri Photography. As an added bonus, I'm also sponsoring the event photography on the night of the auction for BOOKS for the BARRIOS. I'm happy to support their community and give them images that will support promotion of the organization and awareness."
But there are additional reasons why supporting BOOKS for the BARRIOS is close to Capri's heart. Capri embarked on her own petite book distribution project when she traveled through Laos a few years ago. While there, she learned about an organization called Big Brother Mouse - Books in Laos http://www.bigbrothermouse.com/. Capri purchased as many children's books as she could carry while backpacking, and as she traveled throughout the countryside's small towns and villages, Capri distributed the books to the children she met. With an opportunity to give back in such a meaningful way again, but on a much larger scale, Capri jumped at the chance.

More About BOOKS for the BARRIOS
"The organization began in 1981 among U.S. Navy families who were stationed in the Philippines. From 1981 to 1986, they worked closely with other knowledgeable, motivated volunteers as well as the U.S. Navy and Philippines Airlines to distribute hundreds of thousands of books throughout the Philippines. American children play a pivotal role in building and driving the organization's vision and operations. Growth of the organization into a worldwide project has been through the emphasis of the contribution and critical role of all participants, whether staff or volunteers.
Many developing countries are suffering from a “brain drain” losing many of its educated population for opportunities abroad, especially their most qualified teachers. The effects are widespread but strengthening the education is the key element in securing economic development and a better quality of life for citizens around the world.
To date, BOOKS for the BARRIOS has sent over 12 million books overseas, trained teachers in developing countries in a modern method of teaching and established over 50 Model-of-Excellence schools, helping millions of children throughout the world. The organization has expanded allowing it to reach needy schools by directly sending books to Mexico, Honduras, Philippines and Bhutan, as well as providing consulting services to other non-profit organizations who want to help over 140 book-deprived countries. Today, a mounting debt, economic stagnation and decline and widening disparities among its people continue to plague all developing countries. This is happening on a global scale with widespread effects, but strengthening education is a key element in securing economic development throughout the world."
