San Francisco SPCA and Pets Unlimited to Merge Operations
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- Today, the SF SPCA and Pets Unlimited announced a merger of two likeminded animal welfare organizations, creating a centralized animal care nonprofit that will significantly increase resources and enhance operations for the benefit of animals in the San Francisco Bay Area. The merger was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors of both organizations and is set to close on March 1, 2014.
“The SF SPCA and Pets Unlimited are excited about our future as a combined organization and the increased care for animals we will be able to provide,” stated SF SPCA co-president Jason Walthall. “Together, we have 200 years of experience caring for animals in San Francisco, and while both organizations have a deep history as individual nonprofits, we never stop looking for new ways to advance our shared mission: to save and protect animals in need. Therefore, after careful consideration, it became evident that a merger was the best thing to do for the community and will have a considerable, positive impact on animal care. Getting animals into loving homes is what we do, and this merger furthers that cause.”
The combined organization will continue to offer services at the existing SF SPCA Mission campus on Alabama Street and at the Pets Unlimited Pacific Heights campus on Fillmore Street. The dual campuses in different segments of San Francisco will substantially increase various animal care services as they operate under the same management structure.
