Savannah Personal Injury Attorney Wilbur Owens Interviewed in TV Segment on Takata Airbag Recall
Savannah, GA (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- Attorney Wilbur Owens of Owens & Mulherin was recently interviewed for a Consumer Alert segment on CBS 46 News, commenting on the Takata airbag recalls.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain airbags produced by Takata Corp. have been found to act defectively, exploding and shooting metal shrapnel. The defect is connected to areas with high humidity, making Georgia one of the places most affected.
“Instead of inflating it, it explodes,” Owens told CBS 46 regarding the airbag deployment systems.
According to an article in Consumer Reports from June 1, 2014, the NHTSA has recently expanded the list of recalled vehicles, which now includes about 34 million vehicles manufactured by 10 different automakers.
According to the New York Times, at least six deaths and more than 100 injuries have been linked to defective Takata airbags.
The law firm of Owens & Mulherin has extensive experience representing victims of defective product injuries.
