Save Ukraine Now Announces General Wesley Clark Will Recommend Defensive Weapons for Ukraine in Upcoming Speeches
Tucker, GA (PRWEB) April 24, 2015 -- Save Ukraine Now (http://www.saveukrainenow.org), a charitable organization formed to alleviate Ukraine’s humanitarian crisis, today announced General (ret.) Wesley K. Clark will call for defensive weapons to be sent to Ukraine. He will make the recommendations in upcoming speeches at the Detroit Economic Club on April 28th and at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois on April 30th.
Drawing on his background as Supreme NATO Commander and the last American general to successfully prosecute a war in Europe, Clark will compare Ukraine with his experience as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO Europe, when diplomacy and the United Nations failed to stop ethnic cleansing until the United States reinforced diplomacy with the military option.
Gary Kellner, President of Save Ukraine Now, said, “General Clark brings a unique perspective to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and Vladimir Putin’s agenda to restore Russian dominance in Eastern Europe. He will characterize the Russian involvement as barely disguised military aggression cloaked with lies and propaganda.”
Clark’s speeches will kick off events in Detroit and Chicago for Ukraine Survival, a national effort by Save Ukraine Now to ship humanitarian relief to more than 1.2 million people who have been driven from their homes by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Other events include a regional prayer breakfast for religious leaders and a banquet in the evening. General Clark serves as the Chairman of the Board for Save Ukraine Now.
Clark believes genocide and mass civilian deaths can be stopped only when military power is used to reinforce diplomacy. In his speeches, he will cite concrete examples including Rwanda, the Balkans and Bosnia, where he stopped the ethnic cleansing of Slobodan Milosevic without a single combat casualty.
The event at the Detroit Economic Club will take place at 11:30 AM on April 28th at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, and the Northwestern speech is scheduled for April 30th at 2 PM at Harris Hall, Room 108 of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
