Saving Moses Expands Its Programs Into Afghanistan
Greenwood Village, CO (PRWEB) February 09, 2015 -- Saving Moses, a global humanitarian organization committed to saving infants and toddlers ages five and under, is excited to announce the launch of a new lifesaving program for babies and their mother’s in Afghanistan. Leading the world’s infant and maternal mortality rate, Afghanistan loses over 12% of all babies born, largely because of the remote nature of births and the lack of education on proper birthing practices. Of those babies, nearly 32% will die in the neonatal period because of exposure to infectious disease. Also at risk, their mother’s often die while giving birth from hemorrhage, hypertension as a result of remote and unsanitary conditions.
Saving Moses is fighting for life, funding trained midwives in rural clinics who will help equip Afghan mothers to give birth to healthy babies. In addition, these funds will provide follow-up vaccinations to guard babies against prevailing diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhea and meningitis. These simple solutions are literally the difference between life and death. After a training group hosted by these midwives for men in Afghanistan, one father was quoted saying, “Why didn’t you come here five years ago? Many of our women and children would still be alive. I have buried three of my own children because they were not breathing at birth.”

Saving Moses: Saving Moses has concentrated their efforts on providing for babies and toddlers ages five and under around the world, where the need is most urgent and the care least available. Saving Moses was founded in 2012 by Sarah Bowling after a mission trip to Ethiopia. They have established ongoing programs such as their revolutionary NightCare® Centers in Cambodia, offering shelter and protection for babies and toddlers whose mother’s are entangled in the sex trade industry. They also fund six malnutrition clinics in Angola which provide therapeutic milk to little ones who are critically ill. They have concrete plans to expand into new nations in 2015.
