Saving Moses Returns to Cambodia to Continue Protecting and Caring for Sex Workers’ Babies
Denver, CO (PRWEB) August 14, 2015 -- Saving Moses, a global humanitarian organization dedicated to reducing infant mortality around the world, took a team of volunteers from all over the United States to work in their NightCare centers in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in late July. Saving Moses runs four NightCare centers to provide loving shelter and care for sex workers’ babies at night when they are vulnerable to violence, neglect, and sexual exploitation.
One traveler said, "I’ve been supporting Saving Moses for a few years. I knew it was time for me to see it in person, to serve the babies, and support Saving Moses in a totally different way. It changed my life."
This was the organization’s second time to take a team of people to work in the NightCare centers. They assisted with painting, repairing, cleaning, and improving the four existing centers. They visited old and new neighborhoods to tell the sex workers about the NightCare centers and encouraged them to bring their babies to the center. The group also worked with the babies and toddlers at night.
NightCare operates like a daycare center except it runs over night. Mothers drop off their babies to our center before they go to work. The babies then receive a bath, clean clothes, a nutritious meal, time for play, a lesson, and are put to bed until their mothers pick them up in the morning. Because of NightCare, Saving Moses is able to consistently provide protection and care to babies who have no other refuge.

Saving Moses: Saving Moses has concentrated their efforts on providing for babies and toddlers ages five and under around the world, where the need is most urgent and the care least available. They have established ongoing programs such as their revolutionary NightCare Centers in Cambodia, offering shelter and protection for babies and toddlers whose mothers are entangled in the sex trade industry. They also fund six malnutrition clinics in Angola which provide therapeutic milk to little ones who are critically ill. They also fund midwives and postnatal vaccinations in Afghanistan.
