Savory Institute To Showcase Data-Driven Climate Solutions At Earth Day TX, 2017
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) April 18, 2017 -- The Savory Institute will be exhibiting at Earth Day TX 2017 on April 21-23, at Fair Park, Dallas, Tex., to give a sneak preview of its innovative Land-to-Market program (L2M) to the public. Savory’s L2M will enable consumers to identify food and fashion items derived from livestock managed through practices verified to enhance water, soil, and climate.
Earth Day TX is the world’s largest Earth Day event dedicated to promoting a positive impact on the environment through education and sustainable thought leadership. Savory will host multiple booths at the event (4309, 4311, 4313, 4315, 4317 in the Tower Building), and will counter the idea that meat consumption is bad for the environment by showing consumers the benefits of livestock raised on holistically managed grassland.
Savory’s new Land to Market (L2M) is a grassroots and collaborative program that removes market barriers, facilitates land regeneration, differentiates producers and their products, and provides sourcing solutions for conscientious brands. The program will also build awareness and provide transparency for consumers to empower them in their purchasing decisions. Early adopters include EPIC and White Oak Pastures.
Savory's goal is to promote the regeneration of 1 billion hectares of land by 2025, and accelerate the impact though market engagement and aligned incentives. L2M partners will be supported with training, consulting and implementation support through Savory’s global network of accredited hubs.
"Livestock properly managed on grasslands has the unique ability to sequester carbon through proper management, and improve soil." states Chris Kerston, Director of Market Engagement and Public Outreach for Savory, and a speaker at Earth Day TX. “What we are sharing is a transparent, data-backed program that will enable consumers to identify meat, dairy, wool and leather products from livestock managed in a way that has demonstrably improved the environment. In the long run, this solution brings economic, environmental and social well-being to communities around the world.”
Kerston will speak on April 22 at the Earth Day TX event from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on "How Regenerative Grazing Will Save the World.” Savory will compete in the non-profit division for EARTHxPitch on April 23 at Grand Place between 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. Savory films will feature in the EARTHxFilm showcase.
