Sayville Designer Strikes Gold At Henri Bendel
Sayville, NY (PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- Emerging jewelry designer Vivian Demeusy-Gerzog of Sayville, NY will be presenting her Buddha Bia jewelry line on the second floor of Henry Bendel's Fifth Avenue flagship store April 24-28, 2014. This honorary appearance, open exclusively to designers invited by the upscale retailer, follows the store's semi-annual Open-See event in October 2012, in which hopeful vendors presented their merchandise to Henri Bendel buyers.
Says Demeusy-Gerzog, “I arrived at four in the morning and waited with thousands of newfound friends/competitors for a chance to meet the buyer. I was literally shaking in my boots.” This feeling of mixed apprehension and anticipation is not unusual among the participants, many of which are home-based designers hoping for a chance to launch their lines in major retail stores. Many famous designers, such as Anna Sui, Diane von Fürstenberg, and Rick Owens, have been popularized through Henri Bendel.
Demeusy-Gerzog, a former Xerox executive, founded Buddha Bia in September, 2012, but was not yet well-known. However, her unique collection of Yoga and Buddha-inspired necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, along with her professionalism and preparation with professional price sheets and pictures impressed the buyer. “[She] was extremely stern and serious, yet knowledgeable, which I appreciated,” said Demeusy-Gerzog. “They know exactly what they're looking for and what will work in the store.”
By the end of her presentation, Buddha Bia had been selected as one of only a handful of designers chosen for a 2014 trunk show.
“I was the only one I could see that they selected out of hundreds of people who were presenting at the same time,” said Demeusy-Gerzog. “Everyone was clapping and patting me on the back. It was a wonderful feeling.”
Buddha Bia's trunk show has been scheduled for April 24-28 on the second floor of Henri Bendel's Fifth Avenue store.
Demeusy-Gerzog feels that this is just the beginning for Buddha Bia. Her jewelry has already been adopted by Sophie Reese in the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station, NY, and discussions with other major department stores are currently underway.
“My goal is to be in hundreds of select fashion-minded jewelry and retail stores nationwide,” said the proud jeweler.
