SC Heart Gallery's New Website Shines For Foster Kids
Columbia, South Carolina (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- The South Carolina Heart Gallery (SCHG) celebrates the beginning of its second decade with a new look that showcases the faces of the children it serves: a fresh, newly redesigned website that enlivens its mission to help find loving, permanent homes for kids now in foster care.
“The South Carolina Heart Gallery specializes in portraying children throughout South Carolina that are currently in Foster Care and that are legally free for adoption. It is our hope that people who see their photographs and videos will be moved to adopt a child,” says Millie Qualls, SCHG’s executive director since its inception in 2005. “So we thought that framing our own efforts through a livelier online presence only makes sense.”
The South Carolina Heart Gallery, which is affiliated with the state Department of Social Services and is one of 120 Heart Gallery chapters nationwide, relies on hundreds of volunteer photographers to photograph children who need families of their own. In its first 10 years, 155 photographers across the Palmetto State have photographed more than 900 children, with better than half of them—465 children—placed in adoptive homes. So far this year, there have been 8 photo shoots across the state with over 120 new children photographed and videoed for their new web site page.
The website’s new intuitive and user-friendly design features hundreds of black-and-white portraits, along with biographies and videos of the children, including twins John and Cody: “John says he is awesome, nice and intelligent and wants to join the Army. … Cody describes himself as creative and professional.”
“The South Carolina Heart Gallery provides a service unlike any other in South Carolina,” says Clark Smith, a founding member of the SC Heart Gallery Foundation and its chairman. “The SCHG not only arranges the photography and videography of the children, but the SCHG also assists adoptive families throughout the complete adoption process.
The Heart Gallery of America started 13 years ago in New Mexico. The collaborative project comprises chapters nationwide that deploy hundreds of photographers who all provide their experience and expertise pro bono.
