Scandit Continues Rapid International Growth with New San Francisco Office
San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- Scandit (http://www.scandit.com), developer of the leading software-based barcode scanning and data capture platform for smartphones, tablets and wearable computing devices, today announced that it has expanded into the US from Europe and opened an office in San Francisco. Given the traction and quick growth it has seen both globally and in the US market, with recognized enterprise customers including Capital One, NASA, Saks Fifth Avenue, shopkick and Yusen Logistics, among many others, Scandit has also augmented its senior management team with three key US hires. These executives are overseeing partnerships, sales and marketing operations on a global scale.
Scandit was founded in Europe in 2009 and has established itself as the leader in the emerging BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) scanning market for employees and consumers while also providing a more cost-effective alternative to traditional, dedicated hardware device scanners. Scandit processes hundreds of millions of scans per year for a variety of retailers, manufacturers, logistics companies and other enterprises, with global scan volume doubling over the past year. The US accounts for 80 percent of these scans, demonstrating Scandit’s foothold in and focus on the market, supported by its new office and appointments.
As Vice President of Marketing, Heidi Elgaard brings more than 15 years of experience in senior marketing positions for major corporations to her role where she is responsible for Scandit’s marketing function. Previously, Elgaard was chief marketing officer for SaaS Markets, a leading business app store provider recently acquired by Sysnet Global Solutions. Prior to SaaS Markets, she was head of marketing for Live365, Inc., a global Internet and mobile radio company with 6000+ stations, leading all corporate communications activities. Elgaard’s background spans marketing, strategic planning, business development, and digital content development and distribution at a variety of companies including Avid Technology, Euphonix and MediaZone.
Marlene Tuzar was named Scandit’s vice president of sales, responsible for the strategic direction, management and success of all aspects of direct sales and strategic OEM relationships for the business. Before joining Scandit, Tuzar was vice president of global sales for Pole to Win International Inc., a provider of video game quality assurance testing, customer support and localization services. Prior to that, she was senior director of sales at MaxiScale, a provider of data management and data protection technologies purchased by Overland Storage. She held previous senior sales and business development roles at several additional technology companies, including FTP Software.
Daniel Thalhammer joined Scandit as head of partnerships. In this role, he is responsible for establishing and managing partnerships with system integrators, application developers and key distribution partners. Previously, Thalhammer was head of business development at Huddle, a leader in cloud collaboration and content management for the enterprise and competitor to Box and Dropbox. Before that, he worked at Meltwater Group, a provider of online intelligence solutions delivering big data insights, for several years in roles crossing corporate development, strategy, business development and sales.
“With its reputation as a key technology hub, San Francisco was the perfect location for us to expand into the US,” said Samuel Mueller, CEO at Scandit. “Our management team consists of seasoned experts in their respective areas of responsibility. These new additions, coupled with our recent round of funding, will help to further bolster our presence and growth in North America as well as support partner and customer needs.”
