SCCC Foundation Names Transfinder CEO & President Antonio Civitella Chair of Annual ‘Food for Thought and All That Jazz’ Celebration
Schenectady, New York (PRWEB) February 10, 2015 -- Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) and the SCCC Foundation Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Transfinder President and CEO Antonio Civitella to serve as Honorary Chair of the annual “Food for Thought and All That Jazz” celebration, scheduled this year for Tuesday, March 31.
“It is the Foundation’s mission to ensure the success of students at SCCC, and having strong partnerships with the Schenectady business community is an important part of fulfilling that goal,” said SCCC Foundation Board Chair Jeanne Maloy. “Transfinder is a company that is providing enormous opportunity right in the Schenectady community, and Tony is a great choice to head up this important effort for the Foundation and the College.”
This year’s “Food for Thought and All That Jazz” will be the 24th annual celebration. Each year, more than 300 leaders in business, education and the community come together to enjoy an evening of food and jazz music presented by students in the College’s Culinary Arts and Music programs.
“This annual celebration is a wonderful opportunity to not only showcase our college campus, but even more importantly, to highlight our students in our Schools of Culinary Arts and Music,” said SCCC Acting President Dr. Martha Asselin. “We’re grateful to have Tony involved this year, as the work the college has done with Transfinder has already been enormously beneficial for our students and programs.”
Transfinder and the College, along with The City Mission in Schenectady, partner in the Drive to Success program, which provides transportation to health care workers who would otherwise be unable to get to work. Antonio Civitella is also the founder and president of the New York BizLab business accelerator, which in conjunction with SCCC is a Start-Up NY location. Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently announced New York City-based tech company SureDone would be the first tenant of the NYBizLab.
