School Improvement Network and Pearson Collaborate to Expand Common Core Professional Development Resources for Teachers
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) August 22, 2013 -- School Improvement Network, the leader in educator effectiveness resources, and Pearson, the global leader in education and technology, today announced a new integration of Common Core training content and tools from School Improvement Network’s Common Core 360 to existing teaching tools in Pearson’s Schoolnet Instructional Improvement System. This new integration comes in response to requests from school leaders, and offers educators the precise resources they need to implement the new Common Core State Standards in language arts and math.
With this partnership, teachers using Schoolnet will have the option to access a video library of effective teachers teaching the Common Core in real classrooms, along with standards-aligned teaching strategies from Common Core 360. Twelve hundred schools in Kentucky are currently using Common Core 360 with Schoolnet.

Common Core 360 delivered through Schoolnet puts data indicating student performance toward the standards alongside teacher support and resources. As educators monitor their students’ mastery of standards through Schoolnet, they will have easy access to view model Common Core classrooms and sample lesson plans to improve instruction in areas where their students are struggling.

The integration will also allow teachers to use Common Core 360 resources during their lesson prep and planning by searching a specific standard to find a model classroom demonstrating effective teaching of that standard. Common Core 360 classroom examples show teachers demonstrating the instructional shifts Common Core was intended to create as outlined by the standards’ authors, the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers. These videos are available through the PD 360 Embedded Video Player, which highlights related videos, journaling opportunities, follow-up questions, forums, lesson plans and other resources to support educator understanding and implementation of the Common Core Standards.
