SchoolMessenger Reinforces Position as K-12 School Communication Leader by Signing Student Privacy Pledge
Los Gatos, CA (PRWEB) February 17, 2015 -- SchoolMessenger, a leading provider of communication solutions for the education market and a subsidiary of West Corporation, today announced that it has signed the Student Privacy Pledge, further reinforcing its position as a K-12 education technology company dedicated to protecting student data.
The Pledge was developed in concert with the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), and it spells out 12 commitments related to the protection and responsible use of student data.
SchoolMessenger was already 100% in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws on student data privacy, but chose to sign the Pledge to set an example for other education technology companies that facilitate school communications.
“Millions of students, parents, and educators depend on SchoolMessenger to stay connected and engaged with their schools,” said Robert Iskander, general manager of SchoolMessenger. “As the #1 provider of K-12 school communications technology in the United States, we have a responsibility to exercise leadership in the area of student privacy.”
Mr. Iskander said that he hoped all companies in the school communications industry would join SchoolMessenger in signing the Pledge.
“Educators and parents deserve to know how their students’ personal information is being used and protected,” he said. “Making this public commitment to safely and appropriately using student data helps ensure the public’s trust in the K-12 vendor community.”
