Scobre Press Imprint - MVP Books Adds Six More NBA Teams to Popular Series
La Jolla, CA (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- Scobre Press imprint MVP Books announced today six new titles will be added to the acclaimed NBA Team Licensed Series – On-the-Hardwood. The new titles are the following teams: Orlando Magic, Charlotte Bobcats, Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks. Now, the entire league is represented with a book in the series.
“Our original plan didn’t include every team, however, we received so much positive feedback and encouragement from our readers and educators, we decided to produce books for every team,“ said Scott Blumenthal, publisher. “The NBA playoffs are in full swing right now, 40 games in 40 nights, leading to the finals that begin on June 5th. Young adult basketball fans can continue the excitement after the season while they build strong reading skills, develop their vocabularies and experience the independence of reading for enjoyment.”
Scobre Press has had a successful publishing history with the NBA since 2005 when the league-wide Read-to-Achieve initiative featured the Scobre best-seller, ‘Hoop City.’ “A number of NBA teams also had us create customized books for their fans and for literacy initiatives,” added Blumenthal.
What do reviewers think? On the Hardwood: Oklahoma City (another in the series) was reviewed by J.B. Petty in the April 2013 edition of Booklist. “By combining action shots and fast-moving, approachable text, Skogen shows how the relationship between Oklahoma City and the Thunder basketball team has grown since December 2008. OKC always wanted its own professional b-ball squad, so when Hurricane Katrina forced the New Orleans Hornets to vacate, OKC quickly offered for them to play in Ford Stadium. Getting this taste further whetted the city’s desire for its own team, and that wish came true in 2008 when the Thunder came to stay. This entry in the On the Hardwood series is one of 30 officially licensed team books designed to appeal to younger readers. Sports lineups change frequently, so perhaps the attractive price of the paperback edition will encourage the purchase of this potentially popular series.”
