Barcelona, Spain (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- The second edition of Seafood Barcelona opens its doors today to thousands of fish and seafood buyers and sellers from around the world seeking to grow their businesses in Southern Europe and the Maghreb. The exposition takes place at the Fira de Barcelona, Gran Via venue in Barcelona, Spain, through Thursday, 24 October.
Produced by Diversified Business Communications in partnership with Alimentaria Exhibitions, Seafood Barcelona attracts 147 exhibiting companies from 27 countries and seafood professionals from around the world for three days of business and networking.
Seafood Barcelona showcases exhibitors who supply all categories of fish and seafood: live, fresh, frozen, value-added, processed and packaged, as well as equipment and services that support the industry. Attending buyers include top buying executives from restaurant, supermarket, hotel, catering, and other high-volume retail, wholesale, and food-service categories.
“Conveniently located in Barcelona, Spain, Seafood Barcelona is easily accessible and offers the best opportunity for seafood buyers to meet face to face with suppliers,” said Liz Plizga, show director for the event. “Spain is one of the leading seafood consuming and producing nations, and the event reinforces its position as the industry’s marketplace and meeting place serving all seafood categories in Southern Europe and the Maghreb.”
In addition to the array of new products and services featured at the exposition and being launched in the market today, a series of interactive master classes are being offered during the three-day event. Several seafood industry professionals will educate visitors on a variety of seafood species, ingredients and innovations that resonate in the Southern Europe and Maghreb markets, such as Atlantic and Pacific cod, anchovy, melva and mackerel, and prawn. Preparations of these species will be demonstrated by famous Chefs Rubén Barrios from La Cocina Bien Hecha del Hotel Mercer, Biel Galvadá and Sergi Escolano from Restaurant Hostal Spa Empuries, awards winner Chef Xanti Alías from Acánthum Restaurant and famous twin brothers and Chefs Javier and Sergio Torres from Dos Cielos Restaurant. “The goal is to provide seafood professionals with all the information they need to make smart seafood purchasing and preparation decisions,” says Liz Plizga.
