SeaLife® Releases the World's First Permanently Sealed Underwater Camera: The Micro HD
Moorestown, NJ (PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- Camera technology just took a giant leap forward, with the introduction of the world’s first permanently sealed underwater camera. The SeaLife Micro HD is a camera for use above or below water, and it never leaks – not in rain and not at 200 feet underwater.
The Micro HD is ergonomic and compact, and at 4 inches wide it’s about the size of a deck of cards. Its rubber armored design feels and looks more like a miniature SLR camera, yet it still has space for a built-in 2.4” LCD. But there are some things missing: you won’t find removable batteries, memory cards, O-rings, a separate housing, openings, latches or doors.
Sealed for life — how does it work?
Downloading or sharing images and videos with others can be done wirelessly with the 32GB Micro HD+ model, or with a USB cable that attaches to waterproof USB contacts on the outside of the camera. The 32GB Micro HD+ model holds thousands of high-res photos or large 1080p HD videos, while the base Micro HD model features 16GB of internal storage.
Like a smartphone, the new SeaLife Micro HD has a permanent internal battery that lasts for three hours of continuous use and is charged via a USB cable. The USB port is an external contact port that can charge or sync while the camera is still wet.
Several unique features make the Micro HD easy to use. Instead of buttons, three large “Piano Keys” control all functions. Start with a simple setup menu, inputting the type of shooting, depth and lighting you’ll be using. The dedicated video key starts and stops video recording with a single press, and while you record a video you can snap still photos without interruption. Other photo options include rapid fire mode of ten pictures per second and continuous picture taking at preset intervals.
Instead of text menus, colorful reference pictures are used to intuitively direct users through an Easy Setup Guide for optimal color correction based on the environment and lighting.
The built-in 140-degree wide angle lens makes it easy to aim and take steady videos with 30 or 60 frames per second. With a still image resolution of 13MP, the camera focuses sharply without shutter lag from one foot to infinity, a practical feature for capturing evasive sea creatures.
For great colors, users can rely on the built-in color correction or use one or two of SeaLife’s external Sea Dragon Photo/Video/Dive lights. They attach quickly, using SeaLife’s universal Flex-Connect arms, grips, and trays.
Those that want to take videos or pictures of easily frightened or even dangerous sea creatures can mount the camera on SeaLife’s AquaPod, an extendable 54” camera pole that’s especially designed for use in and around water. Furthermore, the camera works with a myriad of GoPro camera-compatible mounts to rails, handle bars, boats and boards.
The 32GB Micro HD+ is also available as a complete set that includes a 2000 lumen Sea Dragon Light, Flex-Connect Micro tray and grip.
