Seasoned Blogger Writes About World Events, History, Life’s Challenges and Everything Else In Between
Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- The Internet just celebrated its 25th birthday this week. The Internet has presented itself as a great resource for news, entertainment and information. Whether on your PC or mobile device, the information you want is just a click or tap away.
Murray Rubin, a Toronto native decided to start a blog in 2008 to share his voice with the world. Rubin, a former pharmacist, entrepreneur and aspiring writer felt it was time to express his views.
Rubin’s slogan, “Thinking outside the Dox” is a lovely play on words emanating from the wonderful picture on his blog site of him sitting on his dock.
His topics range from accessible parking permits, anti-Semitism, religion, religious extremism, intolerance, Israel, childhood obesity, democracy, the environment, health care, guns in America, aging, sexism and terrorism. Rubin takes headlines and puts his spin on them.
To get a sense of what Rubin stands for, consider the following statements:
By this time, people who read my blog should be aware that I do not write about frivolous events, such as buying a brown suit, or a new car or that I met a friend I hadn’t seen in years at the mall. I look at the world around me and question how humans are evolving. (“Robots and Humans”)
Rubin is not the materialistic or superficial type and writes meaningful and didactic posts.
So what type of information can you learn from this eclectic blog?
Did you know that you can find out whether or not a person is lying based on his or her body odour? Or that an ear print of the outer ear as a method of identification is 99.6% accurate? (“Privacy In Public Is History”).
In People Are Not Predictable Mostly, Rubin examines which traits are most prominent in human nature.
Murray launches into a discussion about athletics and what distinguishes world-class athletes from “average” sports players in his post, “Top Athletes Think Fast”. We learn from this post that the top players have excellent reaction time.
What is remarkable about this blog, aside from its vast array of content, is Rubin’s sharp wit and his age, which affords him a sense of wisdom and he certainly has an interesting vantage point, having been witness to many significant historic events.
It is rare to find someone from his generation that openly embraces the Internet culture and actively participates in blogging and voicing his opinion, views and ideas.
To quote directly from Rubin: “I do not have to make any of my readers aware that the most significant development technologically has been the advancement of the computer”.
It goes without saying that the development of the Internet, would not have happened, without the advancement of the computer, and without both of these, blogging as we know it, and as Rubin provides it to us, would not exist.
