Seasoned Veteran Parallels Wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan in New Memoir
AMBERG, Germany (PRWEB) June 19, 2015 -- Author and physician William Zoesch, M.D., served in both the Vietnam War and the Afghanistan War, keeping a diary during each conflict. During his time in Afghanistan it dawned on him how similar the two conflicts are, which is the driving point behind his new memoir, “The Man Who Walked 3500 Miles to Kill Me: Reminiscences from VietNam and Afghanistan” (published by Lulu).
Zoesch believes the government learned nothing from Vietnam. In his memoir he points to the current amount of troops present in Afghanistan versus 2004, when he was there, stating this is a mistake the government also made during the Vietnam War.
“The numbers of Vets alive today that experienced both Vietnam and Afghanistan are very few,” Zoesch says. “The first conflict gives you a sharper view of the second.”
Throughout “The Man Who Walked 3500 Miles to Kill Me,” Zoesch discusses many of his noteworthy experiences in both Vietnam and Afghanistan. He then draws comparisons between the two conflicts in hopes of showing readers that the government isn’t infallible.
“I want the readers to laugh, cry, sit astonished and ultimately get a feeling of the blundering Big Government that continues to enter into conflict after conflict,” Zoesch says.
