Seattle is in Love with Venice is Sinking: A Venetian Masquerade Ball
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 05, 2016 -- On Saturday February 27th, the most creative, fun and eclectic party rocked Seattle at the new event space, Metropolist, in the SoDo district. The 9th annual, Venice is Sinking Masquerade Ball had the majority of its 600+ guests adorned in period piece costumes, flowing ball gowns, Marie Antoinette-inspired wigs and most importantly – masks! There was eye candy galore and a surprise waiting around every corner; from the jaw dropping costumes (many handmade), to the ambient circus performances, to Marie Antoinette’s "Let Them Eat Cake" Dessert Room featuring an array of delectable cakes, tarts, macaroons and truffles and gelato. Guests made their way into the ballroom, which was decorated like a festive circus tent; and were greeted by a slew of performers including aerialists, contortionists, acrobats, stilt walkers, musicians, Opera singers and dancers. The Ball originated in 2008 with just over 100 attendees, and finished its 9th year drawing over 600 guests locally and from across the country.
“My wife and I flew in from San Antonio, Texas to go to the Masquerade Ball; it exceeded our greatest expectations. The costumes and entertainment make this event a destination not just the hottest party in Seattle. Most folks went all out. This was our first trip to Seattle and we were more than impressed by the highly acclaimed Masquerade Ball and its charming founder, Tracy Klinkroth,” said Winston Shaffer.
Constant head turning continued throughout the night to view the delights of performers like Jennelise, an aerialist dancing in the sky, who also hung upside down to pour champagne into waiting flutes. A dare was made over the microphone by the D.J. to Seattle’s Jim Dever, (DareDever) Emmy Award winner, reporter and host at NBC's network affiliate KING 5’s Evening Magazine, to join in on the 10th anniversary next year to work with Jennelise as an aerialist pouring champagne! The producers of the ball hope he will not disappoint, and will accept the dare.
"I traveled to Venice 10 years ago and fell in love with the city. I was enchanted by the many traditional mask makers selling their wares. Looking at my mask sitting forlornly on the shelf made me wish for a grand Carnivale Masquerade Ball to attend here at home; so after much researching, Venice is Sinking was born! At the time, I was president of the board of Seattle nonprofit, CrookedTrails.org, which is all about travel! So I decided to make the Venetian Ball a fundraiser for them and they have been my nonprofit partner for most of the nine years that the Ball has been in existence," said Tracy Klinkroth, founder of Venice is Sinking: A Venetian Masquerade Ball produced by Epiphany Events.
