Seattleites Encouraged to Breathe With Ease at Day of Learning
Seattle (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- Respiratory conditions are so common and wide reaching that nearly all of us are affected by one or more in our lifetime. As with many conditions, seniors and children are especially vulnerable to respiratory illness.
On Saturday, May 3rd from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., the American Lung Association in Washington and Aljoya Thornton Place at 450 N.E. 100th Street, Seattle, WA 98125 are teaming up for the Respiratory Rally, a free educational event focused on supporting people with respiratory conditions, and their families, by providing information about the latest care options for those with asthma, lung cancer, emphysema, and COPD. The event will include helpful how to’s about:
• Nutrition choices for those with lung disease.
• Fitness methods for people with breathing challenges.
• New research findings related to COPD.
• Lung health 101 - understanding the basics of better breathing.
“We are thrilled to host this event and get crucial, empowering information to people who live with lung disease,” says Allison Moroni, Lung Health Manager at the American Lung Association in Washington. “When it comes to lung disease, educated people are powerful people. That’s why we are excited to bring so many knowledgeable speakers together for the Respiratory Rally at Aljoya Thornton Place.”
The Respiratory Rally coincides with National Lung Health Advocacy Day, Wednesday, May 7th. Complimentary Alpha-1 testing is available on site; Alpha-1 is genetically linked to diseases of the lungs and liver. More than 90,000 Americans suffer with Alpha-1 related illness. To reduce barriers in attending, the American Lung Association in Washington and Aljoya Thornton Place are providing complimentary lunch, valet parking, and free oxygen to anyone who needs it.
