Second Annual Game Changers Summit Addresses How ICT4D Solutions Transform Underdeveloped Global Communities
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- According to the United Nations, six billion of the world's seven billion people have mobile phones. That's more than the number who have access to toilets. How to utilize the broad access to mobile phones for global good is a question to be addressed at the Game Changers Summit 2015, an Information and Communications Technology for Development (ICT4D) conference hosted by United Methodist Communications. Join the conversation September 17-19 when international experts gather at the Opryland Hotel for the second annual event.
Learn how the latest technological tools, including humanitarian drones, 3D printers and alternative energy, are reshaping the way to understand and interact with the environment with positive implications for underdeveloped communities throughout the world.
The theme of the two-and-a-half-day event is “Harness the power of technology for global good,” with demonstrations of how information and communications technology can be used to improve all facets of life. Workshop topics will include mobile money, m-health, e-learning, crisis communications, alternative energy and offline solutions for rural communities.
New to the event this year is a workshop addressing women’s empowerment through technology, with pioneers in the field discussing how women and ICTs are transforming healthcare and education.
“Women in the developing world are often excluded from using the very tools that could improve life for their families and communities,” said Neelley Hicks, director of ICT4D Church Initiatives at United Methodist Communications. “When women are given a chance to use ICTs, transformation can happen.”
United Methodist Communications is offering the Game Changers Summit to innovative faith leaders who seek to utilize the tools of the day to enhance existing ministries and build new ones to improve lives and communities. More than two dozen ICT4D leaders from around the world are scheduled to speak at the event.
