Security Industry Association to Hold Press Lunch for Briefing on SIA Government Summit
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- The Security Industry Association (SIA), the leading trade association for electronic and physical security solutions providers, is preparing to host its annual SIA Government Summit on June 3-4 at the W Hotel in Washington, D.C.
On Thursday, May 8, SIA invites journalists covering the homeland security beat to join us for lunch from 12-2 p.m. at the National Press Club to discuss SIA's agenda for the SIA Government Summit, providing you with first-hand information about session panels, key speakers from Congress and officials presenting from federal agencies, in a briefing on the record.
Jake Parker, SIA director of government relations, will be on hand to discuss SIA policy priorities including:
• Physical security standards for the power grid
• Transportation security, including upcoming federal requirements for cameras on trains and video surveillance on cruise ships
• New federal school security research initiatives and grant funding
• The SIA Privacy Framework, which outlines best practices for manufacturers, integrators and distributors to protect personally identifiable information and other sensitive data (updated to reflect growing adoption of IP cameras and other networked devices)
SIA also will discuss its memorandum of understanding with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology Directorate. DHS is working with SIA to bring together DHS employees, first responders, end users and industry experts to exchange information and resolve technical challenges to achieve common homeland security objectives. SIA will host a DHS S&T panel at the SIA Government Summit.
